I remember, when I was little, my grandma and I would climb up the hill a little ways up from our house in Velas to pick herbs to make tea or soup. We had a great view of Pico and Faial. We'd also go to mass every morning which I loved. We'd stop by the park near the church that had all these birds in this large cage. It was a simpler life. We didn't have much but it was a less stressful and happier life as well. Memories like these fill my heart with much joy, love and happiness. Rest in peace my dearest grandmother.
